SUMMARY:Teens Art Club - Term 2 2023
DESCRIPTION:Join our fabulous artist and arts tutor Christina Frank as she guides you through a wonderful creative program. During the term students will explore a range of techniques/materials focusing on building foundational skills in drawing\, painting and modelling in clay whilst harnessing their own unique creative expression. We will draw inspiration from life & imaginations weaving in the seasons\, nature\, dreams and story. Participants will also get the chance to work on and develop their own projects from home. \nWeek 1: Quirky Quolls and other Endangered Animals – Sculpture\nThis is the first week of creating a Sculpture using basic armature making techniques. Please choose and print out an image of an endangered animal you would like to make a sculpture of. \n \nWeek 2: Quirky Quolls and other Endangered Animals – Sculpture\nWe continue creating a Sculpture using clay hand building techniques of the endangered animal you have chosen. Your sculpture will be set aside to dry and finished off later in the term. \nWeek 3: Beloved Animal Portrait – Drawing\nChoose an animal you love… it could be a pet or some other beloved animal.  This week we will draw your animal using pencil and charcoal in preparation for painting a portrait painted in acrylics. For inspiration we will look at “Francoise’\, ‘Shirley’ and ‘Steve’\, portraits by Australian artist Lucy Culliton of her beloved sheep. \n \nWeek 4: Beloved Animal Portrait – Painting\nChoose an animal you love… it could be a pet or some other beloved animal. Over 2 weeks we will create a portrait painted in acrylics. For inspiration we will look at “Francoise’\, ‘Shirley’ and ‘Steve’\, portraits by Australian artist Lucy Culliton of her beloved sheep. \nWeek 5: Beloved Animal Portrait – Painting\nContinuing and completing your portrait of an animal you love… it could be a pet or some other beloved animal. Over 2 weeks we will create a portrait painted in acrylics. For inspiration we will look at “Francoise’\, ‘Shirley’ and ‘Steve’\, portraits by Australian artist Lucy Culliton of her beloved sheep. \n \nWeek 6: Animals of the sea – Printing\nThe sea is full of diverse and amazing animal life. This week we will design and start cutting a lino tile based on your choice of an animal\, or animals from the sea. \nWeek 7: Animals of the sea – Printing\nWe will continue making our lino cut and then make a series of lino prints using acrylic paint\, based on your choice of an animal\, or animals from the sea. \n \nWeek 8: Quirky Quolls and other Endangered Animals\nWe will finish off our Sculptures made using basic casting techniques. Please bring the image of the endangered animal you chose to make your sculpture of. \n  \n* Please bring an apron or art shirt. Particularly when we are using acrylic paints\, these protect your clothes! \nSketch book\nI intend that this course supports the students own creative journey. Sometimes in the process of art making there is waiting time\, perhaps waiting for something to dry\, or to take turns in using a particular process or piece of equipment. During these times the student can be using their sketch book. \nCreative Kids Rebate\nYou can use a $100 Creative Kids Voucher if enrolling for a half or full term.
