Made by Hand: Soft Sculptural Constructions
Term 1 2016

As the title suggests this course covers an array of hand made assemblage and construction techniques to create all manner of wonderful soft sculptural forms.
Assemblage will include, but not be limited by: coil weaving, macramé, crochet, tying, knotting, textile overlaying, beading [including hand made beads using ‘Fimo’: oven baked modelling clay), stitching and found object inclusion.
Various construction techniques and materials to be covered include: tubing, cable ties, wire, safety pins, boning, binding, plaiting, riveting and glueing.
During the first five weeks you will be exploring and developing skills to work with a range of materials and techniques to then apply that knowledge to your own projects. The sculptural outcomes will be limited only by your imagination.
This course is for all levels of experience. Participants are encouraged to bring from home their treasure chest of bibs and bobs that can be used for their constructions.
