The creative act is fundamental in providing an opportunity for children to connect with their innate creativity whilst having fun! Join artist and arts educator Eleanor Amiradaki to explore a range of techniques/materials focusing on building foundational skills whilst harnessing their own unique creative expression. Watercolour, ink, pencil, charcoal, clay and pastels will be among the materials used to build unique compositions. We will weave into our work the seasons, nature, dreams and story as we draw inspiration from life & imagination.
WEEK 1. SOMEONE I LOVE (Oil Pastels and watercolour)
We will begin by drawing a portrait of someone who is close to us. Children will be working with oil pastels and watercolour to create vibrant and unique paintings whilst learning about colour, composition and narrative.
WEEK 2. BOTANICAL DRAWING (Chalk Pastels)
We will be working with pastels for children to experience the beauty of this simple medium whilst exploring shading, mark making, line and composition.
WEEK 3. MUSHROOMS & TOADSTOOLS (Clay Sculpting)
Working with air dry clay we will shape a whimsical mushroom garden which can be used for endless play afterwards!
WEEK 4. NIGHT OWLS (oil pastels & watercolour)
Children will begin by making preliminary sketches and then go on to paint their beautiful wise night owls.
WEEK 5. THE NIGHT GARDEN (Chalk Pastels)
The children will create a whimsical night garden scene with pastels – exploring how to enhance luminosity and mood with this magical medium.
WEEK 6. COLOURFUL PINCH POTS (Clay Sculpting)
Working with air dry clay we will finish off the course making a beautiful object for your home. Small vases that will be engraved with geometric patterns and later painted.
WEEK 7. COLOURFUL PINCH POT VASES CONTINUED (Painting our creations)
Children will decorate and paint their pinch pots ready to take home and put their treasures in!
WEEK 8. FOREST CREATURES (Chalk Pastels)
Foxes, rabbits, doe eyed dears – children will learn how to draw various animal forms in chalk pastels.
