Note: High School Students may be eligible to use the Creative Kids Rebate for this workshop.
A ceramic hand-building course using porcelain encouraging personal creativity that focuses on making plant or marine forms with demonstrations in porcelain hand-building techniques. The course also provides knowledge about surface treatments and practical information about clays and firing.
Day 1
Clay demonstrations include techniques to create a plant or marine form and porcelain pieces in Michelle’s collection.
Students make preliminary forms after learning how to make a paper armature. Students will then clarify their armature before covering with clay and learning how to develop their forms.
There will be a demonstration regarding surface textures and additional small form components demonstration.
Day 2
Students will continue to develop their under-forms.
You will then move on to patterning and textural development, with more demonstrations in this area by Michelle.
The forms will be developed and additional smaller forms added so that by day’s end you will have a piece ready for firing.
This can be done offsite for a fee of $10 per piece. Alternatively, you are welcome to take your work home and continue to work on it until you are ready for firing. We will provide details of where this can be done.
There is a materials fee of $30pp for your clay, this can be paid directly to the tutor or included with your order below.
