Sculpting with Wax and Plasticine
Term 1 2016

Join Alan Somerville in an exciting excursion to discover the properties and possibilities of wax and plasticine, utilised in this course as fluid modelling materials for various sculptural landscapes. Be inspired by historical references to the likes of Rodin and Degas as you traverse the Modernist landscape to engage with material and form as you find your own language of making.
In the first weeks Alan will demonstrate the hand building capabilities of wax and plasticine and various tooling techniques. Each week the participants will practice these new-found techniques via simple forms and modelling exercises to gather new skills knowledge. As you gain confidence you will then be encouraged to begin on your own projects. For those with more experience you will be beginning on personal projects earlier in the Term, to be individually guided by Alan.
