An intensive 4 session course studying the head as a sculptural portrait in January and February with the life model building a raku clay likeness to be fired or possibly cast at the end of the coursework.

This Lifeclass Portrait Intensive is on the weekends of the 30th and 31st of January, and the 6th and 7th of February 2021, from 10am – 2pm each day.

Includes model and all tools.
Additional cost: Raku clay $30 per bag if required.

SESSION 1 – 30/1/21

Drawing the portrait as an armature investigation and then making a raku armature to begin our form development, seeing rhythm and proportional values.

SESSION 2 – 31/1/21

Massing the skull as a form over the raku armature, roughing out the form relationships and proportional values of the face and skull through the act of seeing and developing spatial awareness.

SESSION 3 – 6/2/21

Further form and planar development of the skull, developing facial features as drawings in clay.

SESSION 4 – 7/2/21

Refining our modelling, adding hair, bringing the sculpture together as a unified whole. Completion of modelling, discussions regarding firing or casting the finished modelling.
