Wax Sculpting Workshop With Michael Vaynman
18 June 2017

Wax is a wonderful sculpting medium because of its many unique properties. Wax can be used as a liquid, a paste, warm (like plasticine), or cold (carvable). It can be used cold to construct rigid geometric shapes or warm for a more traditional modeling technique.
These various methods of use will be explored during the workshop. Also you will learn ways of constructing a wax armature, different methods of adding bulk and the use of tools for texturing and finishing your work. You can work at your own pace and keep some wax to continue developing your sculptures.
This workshop is designed primarily for those who have had some experience with sculpting before and wish to experiment and explore new techniques. The aim is to introduce students to a more advanced, versatile medium in a fun, creative way. Ultimately the use of wax as the medium allows for the sculpture to be cast in bronze using the ancient lost wax process.
Cost: $190 plus wax materials fee of $40 per person.
