I aim to create physical and contextual metamorphosis of the material and objects I use to make sculpture. During my search for physical metamorphosis I explore form and line in space using a diverse range of recycled materials. Discarded objects and materials are usually my source of inspiration. I constantly question how found objects and recycled material, ranging from discarded furniture to vegetation cuttings, can be re-imagined, renewed and rebuilt. Contextual metamorphosis occurs when new meaning can be seen through re-invented sculptural forms. New contexts may reference the original form of the material or object, often with a humorous or quirky element. I like the thought that my work may make people smile, while discovering new relevance for the repurposed materials in relation to the environment and culture they experience every day.
