Investigating a portrait rendered by Australian artist Grace Crowley we find proportions and outline of the image using 2B pencil before investigating tone and colour using collage and chalk pastels.

Inspired by a landscape masterpiece from artist Lloyd Rees to develop depth, fluidity, gesture and spatial dynamics.
WEEK 6
Palimpsest Drawing after Henri Matisse
Charcoal; putty erasure; Life Model
Drawing from life a seated, clothed model we will render several drawings in charcoal one on top of the other to develop a palimpsest technique which addresses the body as shifting subject matter to capture fleeting movement through space.
