TERM 2 COURSEWORK EARLY BIRDS
SCULPTURES IN THE GARDEN MUDGEE 2022
ART OUT AND ABOUT: SYDNEY BIENNALE: RIVUS
April, late autumn, Bana’marrai’yung and the fruit has dropped from the Magenta Lillipillis in my street. There is a briskness in the air and the powerful owls, Nangaw, will be mating.
Powerful Owls are monogamous and mate for life. Nesting occurs from late autumn to mid-winter and clutches consist of two dull white eggs with incubation lasting approximately 38 days. The species breeds and hunts in open or closed sclerophyll forest or woodlands and occasionally hunts in open habitats. This owl’s region is largely the east coast of Australia from Port Macquarie to down past Canberra.
The size of their territory depends on the density of their prey and can range from 40 to 4000 hectares. Their main prey items are medium-sized arboreal marsupials, particularly the Greater Glider, Common Ringtail Possum and Sugar Glider. These owls make a kind of woo hoo sound and you can listen to these marvellous calls following the link below:

ART OUT AND ABOUT: SYDNEY BIENNALE 2022: RIVUS
2th March – 13th June
From 12 March to 13 June 2022, the Biennale of Sydney will present participant artworks and projects at: Art Gallery of New South Wales, Barangaroo including The Cutaway, Circular Quay, Information + Cultural Exchange, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, National Art School in partnership with Artspace, The Rocks and Walsh Bay Arts Precinct including Pier 2/3.
Rivers, wetlands and other salt and freshwater ecosystems feature in the 23rd Biennale of Sydney (2022), titled rīvus, as dynamic living systems with varying degrees of political agency. Indigenous knowledges have long understood non-human entities as living ancestral beings with a right to life that must be protected. But only recently have animals, plants, mountains and bodies of water been granted legal personhood. If we can recognise them as individual beings, what might they say?
Enjoy this Easter and all the treats on offer, go easy on the chocolate bilbies and hard on the creative offerings and a good balance will ensue :)
Happy Creating:
Christine and The Sydney Art Space Team
